Eurocar

Saloon Car Championship

This exciting new saloon car series has brought back close actioned saloon car racing. Very popular with the drivers and has a good entry list from fields as far apart as rallycross and saloon car racing.

The look and feel of this series is very much based on the NASCAR series in the US. Colourful paint jobs, rolling starts and pace cars. Because all the cars are identical the racing is close, but the fact that grid position is based on a blind-draw rather than qualifying times means that it is closer still.

In 1996 the EUROCAR Championship saw even more entertaining and action-packed racing with the introduction of the V8 category. Closely built on the American NASCAR pattern the EUROCAR V8 is a front-engined, rear wheel-drive coupe in the classic style.

The 5.8 litre 450bhp V8 engine is supplied ready-to-run by Roush Industries, one of the greatest names in American racing, and carries the Ford Motorsports legend on its rocker covers.

Built by the legendary car builder Sonny Howard the massive heavy duty tube frame chassis provides the highest levels of driver protection available. The sleek bodyshell, made of GRP reinforced with kevlar may look vaguely familiar, as it contains styling cues from a number of different vehicles, it is nonetheless unique to the EUROCAR V8. A formula for excitement ..... Click here for the full V8 Eurocar specification.

V6 Eurocars, based on the Ford Mondeo body shape, with a tubular steel chassis and kevlar body panels, weigh in at 850Kgs, use adjustable wishbone suspension and have a wheelbase of 2693mm.

The power plant is a Ford 2.9 litre V6 engine rev limited to 7250rpm. With its single carburettor, wet sump and standard crank rods it produces 228 brake horse power and 200 ft.lbs of torque.
